Who is Chester Wright?
In 2009, Sifu Chet Wright moved to Virginia Beach, Virginia from Des Moines, Iowa. Growing up, Sifu Wright was actively involved in wrestling while in school. His love of grappling dominated his early training. Early in his 20’s he began studying Catch Wrestling in the style of the late Frank Gotch. Since 2012, he has been active in Judo under Sensei Tesshin Hamada (Chair Member on the Dai Nippon Butoku Kai Board of Directors in Kyoto, Japan).
In early 2014, he earned his Blue Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. In 2015, Sifu Wright earned his purple belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. In an effort to become a complete martial artist, Sifu Wright began the study of Jeet Kune Do under the lineage of the legendary Sifu Paul Vunak and the world renowned Progressive Fighting Systems. In April 2014, Sifu Wright earned his Apprentice Instructorship in Contemporary Jeet Kune Do from Sifu Barry Jenkins, the East Coast Regional Director for Sifu Paul Vunak. In June, 2015, Sifu Wright was awarded his Phase One certification under Sifu Jenkins, Director of Operations for PFS. Sifu Wright intends to begin his tournament career in August, 2014, while continuing to teach the art of Jeet Kune Do to those that desire the reality of street combat.
